APS National Partner Relationship Evolves with the Industry

Over the 45 years APS has served Kansas and Missouri hospitals, the industry has experienced significant growth and change. This year certainly marks some of the largest changes ever seen in the healthcare Group Purchasing Organization market. The merger of VHA, Inc. and University HealthSystem Consortium last year into the newly-formed Vizient combined two power-house organizations. After a big announcement last fall, Vizient completed in February the acquisition of MedAssets’ Spend and Clinical Resource Management (SCM) segment, including Sg2, to form the nation’s largest healthcare performance improvement company.

As a result of the Vizient acquisition of the two MedAssets business lines, APS is excited to announce that it is now a Vizient Strategic Partner.

The Vizient team has begun the vast process of integrating the MedAssets portfolio with its portfolio, and it expects the conversion to be completed late 2017. The combined portfolio will include approximately $100 billion in purchasing power with the nation’s leading contract portfolio. Our Legacy MedAssets members should continue using the MedAssets contract portfolio until your APS Client Services representative instructs you to do otherwise.

The APS marketing team will complete the process of replacing the MedAssets logos and brand on our materials and website by the end of the summer.
