Surplus Equipment Exchange

Federal Surplus Property Disposal

Not-for-profit hospitals may be eligible to receive donated surplus materials from the Federal Government. All hospitals, and the public, are eligible to purchase from the Federal auctions and sealed bid sales. In some cases, these sales include specialized clinical equipment that can be used by hospitals and clinics. Below you will find links to learn more about the process.

Government Sales of Surplus Equipment and Supplies

A single menu collection of information about the General Service Administration's Federal Supply service is available here.

If you aren't so adventurous, a summary of governmental programs is below.

The Federal Excess Property Utilization Program

The Federal government has established a system of disposing of surplus equipment and supplies. Surplus products are first made available to other federal agencies through a simple transfer. Hospitals and other not for profit organizations are also eligible. An explanation of this program and who is eligible can be found here.

In each state, a State Agency for Surplus Property is designated to coordinate the appropriate distribution of surplus federal products.
